Stillwater, Okla. – Oklahoma State University is in the beginning of an unprecedented construction period on campus. With this growth comes the inevitable loss or disruption of staff and student parking lots. Effective August 2, 2007, portions of parking Lots 6 and 6A located south of Boone Pickens Stadium will be closed for the construction of the Architecture Building Expansion. These lots are designated for Staff and Green Zone Commuter Student use. Staff parking lost through this construction will be reallocated to other areas within the Stadium parking lot. Parking and Transit Services is constructing new Green Zone Student Commuter spaces at 4th and Hester which will be open sometime in October. Additional Staff Permit parking is available south or Architecture or in the new Alumni Association lot at University and Hester.

Once construction fencing goes up, access to Lot 6 will be limited to the east entrance off of Knoblock and a new drive entrance from Hester. The new Hester entrance will be completed and open for use late in the week of August 6th. The current drives from Athletic Avenue into Lot 6 and 6A will be closed during construction. All existing disability parking spaces will be still be available.

Construction of Old Central will require the loss of five Staff parking spaces in Lot 19, south of the Seretean Center for the Performing Arts. These five spaces will be lost for construction effective Monday, August 6, 2007. These lost parking spaces will be returned for Staff use after the Old Central project is completed.

Besides these parking options, staff and students are always encouraged to take advantage of the OSU Options Program that promotes alternative transportation choices. Consider THE BUS Community Transit System which is free to employees and students or carpool with a friend using the new web-based carpool matching program.
